17 March 2026, Kasane, Botswana

On this day in a momentous ceremony, Minister of Environment & Tourism Honourable Wynter Mmolotsi accompanied by Minister of Transport & Infrastructure Honourable Noah Salakae unveiled a landmark infrastructure project in Kasane.

Our Managing Director, Thandeka Palai speaks to the building being more than just a structure – it's a reflection of the community's values and aspirations. The project's journey was a testament to the complexities of bringing a vision to life.

From relocating 30 prefabricated housing units in Kazungula to addressing unexpected site challenges, the team behind the infrastructure demonstrated unwavering dedication. The multidisciplinary team comprising Batswana experts worked tirelessly to deliver a building that would serve the public good. The result is a stunning example of civic architecture.

Two wings connected by a spacious reception area, create a strong sense of arrival while a structural grid allows for flexibility and growth. The building's adaptability was a key consideration.with the front wing designed to accommodate a future third floor. But it's the public building's relationship with its surroundings that truly sets it apart.

Parking is discreetly tucked away allowing the structure to address the street with dignity and reinforce its connection to the public realm. The rooftop terrace overlooking the majestic Chobe River offers a glimpse into the possibilities of the future. As the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Hon Noah Salakae noted, "Public architecture is never simply about constructing walls and roofs. It is about shaping the places where public service and community life unfold."

This infrastructure is a testament to that mantra - a beacon of hope and possibility for the people of Kasane and Kazungula.

As part of the broader infrastructure redevelopment programme in the Chobe District, the Botswana Government, through the Ministry of Tourism & Environment, successfully delivered a temporary institutional housing development in Kazungula to facilitate the seamless relocation of officers affected by ongoing redevelopment works.

Designed and implemented within an ambitious six-month programme, the project comprised 30 prefabricated residential units, including 28 two-bedroom houses and 2 three-bedroom houses. More than a temporary solution, the development was conceived as a fully serviced residential neighbourhood that prioritised dignity, comfort, and quality of life for its occupants.

Our Managing Director, Thandeka Palai, reflects on the project as an example of how thoughtful planning and efficient delivery can support communities during periods of transition. The project demonstrates that even temporary infrastructure can provide lasting value when designed with people at its centre.

The scope extended beyond housing units to include graded internal roads, supporting infrastructure, secure fenced plots, and communal recreational facilities. Together, these elements created a safe and functional environment that allowed residents to maintain a sense of stability and belonging throughout the relocation period.

Working closely with the Ministry of Tourism & Environment, the multidisciplinary project team guided the development from planning and design through documentation and implementation. The successful delivery of the project ensured that institutional officers could continue their work uninterrupted while permanent infrastructure projects progressed.

The Institutional Housing Relocation Project stands as a testament to the value of responsive public infrastructure — demonstrating how strategic planning, efficient construction, and community-focused design can support both government operations and the wellbeing of the people they serve.
